  • Repeated exercise in or performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it.

Define wise practices:

List the wise practices appropriate to the mentoring arrangement:

  • The mentoring arrangement would be customized to address the organization, community, personal level
  • It would leverage an understanding of the current environment
  • Provide tools for mentors that are relevant to the level of mentoring they are doing and to the structure of the mentoring arrangement

Identify the wise practices of the mentoring arrangement in alignment with organizational standards:

  • The mentoring arrangement would be customized in alignment with organizational values and organizational standards
  • There is no cookie cutter approach where one size fits all
  • Wise practices may include type of mentoring, duration of relationship, reporting/recording, structure, etc.

  • Some associations may be professional associations such as Engineers
  • Other association may be a group of service providers - Construction Association

work experiences

Identify the wise practices of the mentoring arrangement in alignment with personal standards:

  • The mentoring arrangement from a personal standard viewpoint needs to take into account that each person is unique and the mentoring arrangement would need to be customized to that person
  • Each person would have their own standards and would be looking for a mentoring arrangement that would meet those standards
  • Communication, relationship building, personalities, communication styles, goals and objectives

Discuss the linkage among behaviour, wise practices, and the mentoring arrangement:

  • Behaviour is defined as: the way in which one acts or conducts oneself, especially toward others.
  • Wise practices are defined as:“locally-appropriate actions, tools, principles or decisions that contribute significantly to the development of sustainable and equitable conditions”
  • A mentoring arrangement is the coming together of two different people leveraging the “gift of mentoring” to learn and grow personally and professionally
  • Behaviour could be construed as a wise practice based on the behaviour being positive
  • Behaviour as a wise practice would drive the success factor of the mentoring arrangement

Discuss behavior congruent with wise practices in the mentoring arrangement:

  • Congruence is the matching of experience and awareness
  • Congruence in the wake of a mentoring arrangement would speak to the relationship and the matching of mentor and mentee
  • Congruence would also speak to the need for both participants in the mentoring arrangement to be in the moment and to hear, sense and feel what the other is
  • Demonstrating your awareness of self and others would assist in the success factors of the mentoring arrangement
