Define standards

  • a level of quality or attainment.

Define ethical standards

  • Principles that when followed, promote values such as trust, good behavior, fairness, and/or kindness.
  • Mentoring relationships are framed as fiduciary relationships in which mentors own a fundamental obligation to avoid harm to the mentee and to promote the mentee's best interests whenever possible.

List the ethical standards appropriate to the mentoring arrangement

  • Members will do their utmost to understand their clients’ and sponsors’ expectations and reach agreement on how they plan to meet them.

Identify the ethical standards of the mentoring arrangement in alignment with organizational standards

  • Standards for a mentoring arrangement would be consistent no matter the environment that you are working in. Certified mentors are expected to deliver mentoring services in an ethical manner no matter the environment.

  • Some additional rigour may be required to ensure alignment with the ethical standards but I have not seen where that has been an issue.

  • Ethical standards are defined as: Principles that when followed, promote values such as trust, good behavior, fairness, and/or kindness.
  • Behaviour of the mentor/mentee in a mentoring arrangement is impacted by each participants behaviour in how mentoring is delivered
  • How mentoring is delivered is guided by the ethical standards that are in place
